Hot Spot: southern Poland
ProLogis the leading global provider of distribution facilities, announced today that it signed five new lease agreements for 42,800 square metres of warehouse space at its distribution parks in Silesia.
The largest speculative warehouse facility in Poland, totalling 87,000 square metres, is located at ProLogis Park Chorzów (Building 8/9), a modern distribution park totalling more than 231,000 square metres. The building has recently gained new customers, including:
• 20,200 square metres of warehouse space leased to ID Logistics, an international logistic operator. Thereby the company has increased its total warehouse space in Poland to almost 85,000 square metres. Axis Real Estate acted as the leasing agent for this transaction;
• 11,600 square metres of warehouse space let to PPH “Latex” Groehl Gerard,
based in Opole, a leading wholesaler of car, van, 4×4, truck, motorcycle and scooter wheel rims and tyres as well as agricultural and manufacturing machines tyres;
• 4,700 square metres of warehouse space leased to ArchiDoc, a leading provider of solutions in outsourced document management. As a result of the most recent transaction, ArchiDoc occupies more than 16,480 square metres at ProLogis Park Chorzów;
• 3,000 square metres of warehouse space leased to Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Polska, a global logistic operator. The transaction was facilitated by Colliers International real estate agency;
• And 3,300 square metres of warehouse space let to 7R Solution, a third party logistic provider at ProLogis Park Dąbrowa, a rail served distribution park located in Dąbrowa Górnicza next to the expressway S1 and national road 94. Jones Lang LaSalle acted as the leasing agent for this transaction.
Additionally, Wincanton, a leading European provider of advanced supply chain services, has extended its lease agreement for 16,600 square metres of warehouse space at ProLogis Park Sosnowiec, a distribution park located nearby the E40 route leading towards Krakow and Wrocław and only 30 kilometres south of the Katowice Airport in Pyrzowice. The lease agreement was facilitated by Glob Nieruchomości real estate agency.
“So many new lease agreements signed at the beginning of 2011 at ProLogis parks in Silesia clearly suggest a growing demand for modern warehouse space in the region, particularly in Chorzów,” said Michał Czarnecki, vice president, leasing & development, ProLogis Poland. “And it is not surprising at all. ProLogis Park Chorzów – the largest logistics centre in Silesia – has some unquestionable advantages including its strategic location nearby the junction of A4 and A1 motorways – the two largest Polish transportation corridors of international importance – and high-class warehouse facilities that meet the expectations of both small and large customers.”
With a portfolio totalling 523,000 square metres of modern warehouse space located in five distribution parks (27 buildings), ProLogis is the largest provider of distribution space in the Upper Silesia region.
