ProLogis Poland leases more space in first half of the year than in entire 2009

ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a leading global provider of distribution facilities, announced today a summary of leasing activity during the first half of 2010. From January 1 to June 30, 2010 the company leased more than twice as much of warehouse space compared to the results achieved during the same period in the previous year. In the first six months of 2010 only, ProLogis leased 15 percent more space than it did during all of 2009!

In the first half of 2010, ProLogis leased 351,500 square metres of modern office and warehouse space at ProLogis distribution parks in Poland. The number of new agreements signed during that period increased by 40 percent as compared to the same period of the previous year: new clients have occupied more than 123,500 square metres of warehouse space.

“These results confirm ProLogis’ market leading position in Poland and that the situation in the Polish and European warehouse space development markets has slightly improved,” said Ben Bannatyne, ProLogis managing director for Central & Eastern Europe. “The Polish market as a whole has experienced several warehouse facility sales as well as an increased number of both tenders for build-to-suit projects and signed lease agreements. As such, the market is perceived by foreign investors as increasingly more reliable, driving further growth of our industry.”

With a portfolio of more than 2.1 million square metres of space in 105 buildings at 25 distribution parks (34 per cent of the market share), ProLogis is a leading provider of warehouse facilities in Poland.

In Central and Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary) ProLogis has leased more than 600,000 square metres of warehouse space since the beginning of the year, which represents an increase by 117 per cent of leased space as compared to first half of 2009. The largest lease agreement in the region was signed with Eurogate for 31,280 square metres at ProLogis Park Pilsen-Stenovice. The company offers more than 3.7 million square metres of space at 41 logistics parks in Central and Eastern Europe.
