Commerce for charity

Hospital Volunteer Care-Giving Service Foundation has leased a retail space on Üllői út owned by Unitravel. The property near Kálvin tér has retail and office functions as well. “The 130 square meter space had already been occupied by the Foundation in May 2011, with the aim of putting greater emphasis on retail activity, and devoting the resulted proceeds to charity.” – informed us Dávid Szabó, associate at the Retail Agency of Colliers International Hungary.

“It is obvious, that being hospitalized is never a pleasant experience. Being laid low, tied to sick-bed in an unfamiliar environment – with the lack of your loved ones and belongings, living a restricted self-supporting life always means a kind of coercion. Yet, with a little more attention and caring it can be turned more bearable, and even more fun! Unfortunately the already overburdened health employees cannot always save even more power and time for this point. For this reason, we launched our volunteer program in 1998 to help people in St. Margaret hospital.”- said Edit Péter, chairwoman of Hospital Volunteer Care-Giving Service Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Hospital Volunteer Care-Giving Service Foundation (HVSF/KÖSSZA) has been operating as a non-profit organization since 2001, and it has become one of the most significant volunteer organizations by this time. As a Methodological Center, it calls the voluntary program of nearly 40 hospitals, institutions and civil society organizations to life; develops and organizes volunteer recruitment, entry process, training and mediation. Nearly 700 of their volunteers serve patients (either children or elderly people) constantly. The leasing agent Colliers International – in the spirit of its social responsibility activities – has supported the Foundation’s charitable activities by offering them much favorable lease conditions.
