Prologis CEE Employees to Participate in First Global Day of Community Service

Prologis, Inc., the leading global owner, operator and developer of industrial real estate, announced today that its CEE employees spend Friday 17 May participating in community service as part of a new worldwide company initiative.

The employees of Prologis from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania are participating with a number of local non-profit organizations. Prologis Managing Director for Central & Eastern Europe, Ben Bannatyne, is working with the Polish team who is helping out at the Centre for Rehabilitation, Education and Welfare TPD Helenów.

The community service takes place on the company’s first IMPACT Day. More than 1,400 Prologis employees in 21 countries are cumulatively volunteering more than 7,000 hours in their local communities during this 24-hour period.

Ben Bannatyne, Prologis Managing Director for Central & Eastern Europe, said:“This is a special day for our CEE teams. Prologis’ commitment to supporting our local communities gives all of us a chance to do something important and meaningful. We are happy to work with these vital organizations that are making a real difference in the lives of the people they support.”

IMPACT Day emphasises the company’s core values of Integrity, Mentorship, Passion, Accountability, Courage and Teamwork. Activities range from environmental cleanup efforts in the US to helping support road safety programs in Asia. The company kicked off the day in Tokyo and work its way west across 53 cities in Asia, Europe and the US before wrapping up in San Francisco, home of the company’s corporate headquarters.

“Community involvement and corporate citizenship are central to the Prologis spirit and our way of doing business,” said Hamid Moghadam, chairman and CEO, Prologis. “IMPACT Day, like our company, is operated locally on a global scale. This enables us to leverage our worldwide platform to make a long-lasting impact in the communities in which we live and work.”

Teams from the CEE have chosen a number of worthwhile local organisations to assist. In Poland, Prologis employees are helping build and paint animal houses, build fences and clean the area of a mini zoo in Helenów. The Centre for Rehabilitation, Education and Welfare TPD Helenów works with children who have physical and learning disabilities, providing education, rehabilitation and care. The Slovak team has joined their Czech counterparts in doing garden work for the K Podjezdu kindergarten in Prague. In addition to cleaning up the area, they are painting wooden components for playground equipment. In Hungary, the team, assisted by the Prologis Romania team, is rehabilitating a home for Habitat for Humanity. Insulating the walls, windows, ceiling and facade will go a long way towards improving this house for its owner, a widow and her son.

The company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility extends beyond IMPACT Day. Prologis provides employees with three additional days of paid time off each year to volunteer at non-profit organisations: two days for company-sponsored organisations and one day for the non-profit of the employee’s choice.

With its active engagement in five countries across the region (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania) and portfolio totalling more than 3.5 million square metres, Prologis is the primary operator of distribution facilities in Central & Eastern Europe (as of 31 March 2013).
