Graffiti-free Chain Bridge: A Gift From Santa to Budapest

On 6 December 2011 the weather was especially sunny and kind to the volunteers who worked on the Chain Bridge (Lánchíd) of Budapest. CBRE’s staff once again participated in the I Love Budapest Movement’s now traditional event aimed to clean the bridge of graffiti, tags and stickers.

The I LoveBudapest Movementinitiative was launched in autumn 2008 with the first major graffiti-removal on the Grand Boulevard (Nagykörút). The Chain Bridge was also cleaned in October 2009, and it remained graffiti-free until the end of 2010. Lánchíd,which is a symbol of both Budapest and the country, has been continuously vandalized since then, so this year the I loveBudapest Movement decided to clean the bridge as a present from Santa Claus. CBRE’s staff joined the graffiti-removal event dressed for the occasion – in Santa outfits.

The involvement of the real estate advisor’s volunteers is yet another example of the company’s efforts to a sustainable living environment. “Our staff’s enthusiasm for the beauty of our capital is consistent with what we do every day for the development of our built environment. We were proud to participate again in the cleaning of the Lánchíd, and we are pleased that others also share our sense of responsibility.” – commented Adrienne Konthur, Managing Director of CBRE Hungary.
