Stokrotka to Bloom at Prologis Park Teresin
Prologis, Inc., the leading global owner, operator and developer of industrial real estate today announced that in Q4 2012, the Stokrotka Company signed a new lease covering 27,000 square metres at Prologis Park Teresin. The Stokrotka Company, part of the Trading Group of Emperia SA, owns a chain of supermarkets and delicatessens in Poland. International real estate advisory firm CBRE facilitated the transaction.
Stokrotka will occupy all of Building 2, with plans to convert 5,000 square metres of the facility’s total 27,000 square metres into a cold store. Prologis Park Teresin will become Stokrotka’s central distribution hub for Poland, capable of handling more than 90% of the company’s deliveries across the country.
“In order to ensure top quality and availability of goods and to enhance the operating effectiveness we build our own logistics facilities which will enable us to purchase the vast majority of goods directly from manufacturers, instead of distributors as we did before,”said Dariusz Kalinowski, the President of the Management Board of Stokrotka. “As well as putting forward a compelling proposition, Prologis demonstrated a professional approach, significant expertise in developing specialised facilities and indispensable knowledge of the food industry.”
Emilia Szyszka, Prologis leasing manager for Poland said:“We are delighted to continue our long-standing co-operation with Trading Group of Emperia SAand make full use of the knowledge and experience we have gained while implementing projects for companies in the food industry. The facility’s strategic location, immediate availability, efficient operations and flexibility to meet the customer’s needs, meant we were able to deliver a winning pitch.”
Beata Hryniewska, Associate Director Industrial & Logistics for CBREsaid: “We are very glad that our expertise and knowledge allowed us to provide Stokrotka with advice on the selection of the optimal location of its main logistic back-up facility. The greatest challenge we had to rise up to was the tight schedule for the selection of the distribution centre, the signing of the lease agreement and the date of delivering the warehouse space adjusted to the needs of Stokrotka. Prologis is the partner that met all requirements and offered convenient lease terms and conditions to their new customer.”
Prologis Park Teresin comprises six buildings totalling approximately 160,000 square metres. The Park is located 40 kilometres west of Warsaw City Centre at the international road E30, and close to the A2/50 Wiskitki junction. The Park also has access to its own railway siding providing a direct connection to the railway line from Western Europe to the Baltic States and Russia.
Current customers at Prologis Park Teresin include DHL, Ebrex Polska, FIEGE, NTA, Schenker and Viva Manufacturing.
Prologis’ portfolio in the Warsaw area comprises more than 700,000 square metres across seven distribution parks (35 buildings) in Warsaw, Janki, Nadarzyn, Błonie, Teresin and Sochaczew (as of September 30, 2012).
